How to Install Vinyl Planks (Simple Guide)

Vinyl planks are flexible, waterproof, and great for DIY installs.

1. Prepare the Subfloor

Vinyl shows imperfections, so surface must be:

• Smooth

• Flat

• Clean

Often requires a skim-coat or compound.

2. Plan Your Layout

Work from the straightest wall or plan to centre the room.

3. Lay the First Row Straight

Use a chalk line or laser for accuracy.

4. Click or Stick (Depending on Type)

• Click planks → angle and lock

• Glue-down planks → apply adhesive and roll planks in

5. Roll the Floor

For glue-down jobs, use a floor roller to remove bubbles.

6. Install Trims & Edges

Finish with scotia, skirting, or doorway trims.
